Watching Paint Dry
Sunday, February 28, 2010
We painted the area where the door was walled up this week. I have good news and bad news. The good news...I love it! There is so much more room and the house makes so much more sense to me. The outside painting was SO easy and painless. The bad news...well, if you look closely the paint we bought (because we had none left from the first time we painted) DOES NOT MATCH! It has been about 6 hours since we painted the wall and it is still far lighter than the paint that was originally there. I can't tell you how much I DO NOT WANT TO PAINT AGAIN. Anyone have this issue ever? I reallllly don't want to paint the whole wall.
I started decorating for spring today-more on that later. But, for now I filled my bowl with cute apples and filler.
I also decorated my windowsill a bit.
I made this tree for $2!! I bought a cute .99 pot, and a $1 "Easter tree". I filled the pot with some styrofoam, stuck in the "tree" and plopped some moss on top. I love it!
I love my birdie...he is ready for Spring! And my vase is ready for some fresh flowers from the garden.
Well, I'm off to watch paint dry...literally...and pray that it magically matches in the morning.

Aggghhh! I hate it when paint does that! It is so hard to match paint up in several batches sometimes. You would think they would have it down to a SCIENCE, but noooo.....Hope it looks fine after it cures! It may still! If you painted the two at different humid/dry times of year, it may be take longer to cure. Or at least you can hope that's it. :)
Here's to hoping your paint dries perfectly! I love your easter tree...so cute!
Hey, if it doesn't match my dear... you can put a mirror and console table on that part of the wall, or an ottoman for a little DIY mudroom with some pretty hooks on the wall. Isn't it a relief when your house starts making more sense to you? I think it looks wonderful.
we used two very similar colors in our Portland kitchen and bathroom and whenever I needed to do touch ups I could never remember which was which. I think I definitely used the wrong one at one point or was worried that I did because of the difference in color before it dried.
We also could not for the life of us find the same color we used for our upstairs room, so right before we moved, we did some touch up with what we thought was the right color and it was TOTALLY darker. We left it that way for the renters bc we did it literally a day or two before we were moving internationally and at that point we didn't really care. I think we told them they could repaint in that room only if they wanted to.
Okay, my man is a Paint Sales Rep. Here's what he said. "Different batches of paint often have different shades and it's recommended that you paint corner to corner." YOu wouldn't have to paint the entire room, just to the corner. After six hours, it's not going to change that much more. Also, it could even be a different sheen of paint. Either way, your best solution it to take the paint all the way to the corner.
So there ya go. It looks really good through! Love the color.
Oh no...don't you hate when that happens. I have had that happen before using the same can of paint. If you let the can sit too long the color pigments will settle and you can never get it mixed right. I guess if you have a big piece of furniture or artwork you could try and hide it.
BTW: I love your little easter tree!
I love your Easter tree, so cute! Sounds like you got some great advice from readers, I think it looks good. I hate it though when stuff like that happens, hope you get it to where you want soon!
that is soo frustrating! I am sorry :( Your decorations look really cute! At least you have that going for ya ;)
Lemonade makin momma's comment was great! That is really good advice. If it doesnt bother you too much, then I would leave it. But if you cannot stand it, then I would paint to the corner.
That is so frustrating! But I always think that I will not regret it in the end, after all the work is done! :)
