First, a few pictures of our weekend progress. We hung these cute baskets over our porch--I love them, but hubs has already hit his head on them...twice. Needless to say, he isn't the biggest fan.
We are ready for Gator football!!




Danny got a grill and now he's a "real" man.


OK...so things are really starting to move along. We have been without a master bath for 11 days, but hey, whose counting? All the dry wall/greenboard went up today--this may not look like much to you, but this is my future paradise!

This is a picture of the shower area--glass doors and tiled walls/floors will go in. We picked all brushed nickel fixtures, so those will also add a little "flare."



Here is where our vanity/toilet will go. It is a small room, but it will look bigger once everything is in it's place.



Here is a sneak peek of our bathroom shower floor tile! We are very excited. Danny picked this out--he wanted "rocks massaging his feet in the morning." Who knows? I like them, and they will look a little "earthy-er" once they are wet.

We are also going to use this as border on the shower wall.


I'm getting excited!! I don't want to count my chicks before they hatch, but we are hoping to have a bathroom by the end of next week!! I have learned to set reasonable goals, so I believe this is reasonable. They are starting tile tomorrow!!

I am joining Kelly's Korner for "Show us Your Wedding Show Ideas!" This was our BEST shower!!! We had a "stock the bar" shower with all our college friends. At a "stock the bar" party you bring your favorite bottle of wine, liquor, or mixer to the couple. You can also provide glassware or barware. Now, it was our 5th year (Masters year...not lazy year) and most of our friends were still in Gainesville so the party was PHENOMENAL! Here is a group shot of all the boys...

My MOH which I called her the entire year, never by her name, why would I do that? Gosh, don't you love college house kitchens? Sheesh, can you say ugly?

I was a Kappa Alpha Theta and these are all my sorority sisters. They were all a part of our wedding...


Now, before you think we a lushes, please refer back to your college days and remember that you drink heavily at that time in your life...everyone is different...but this is us.



My hubs-to-be at that point...such a cutie.


That was such a blast--have to tell you. This is where my picture trail ends because the rest of them are just...well, anyways-- We threw one for our good friends who got married last March and everyone had a good time! Try it yourself!! Very relaxed and all genders (I guess that would be 2) can come!

Hello Friends,


First a new tv table--I searched high and low for the perfect fit. It has glass doors just like our coffee table top and end table. It was a BEAR to put together. Hubby and I almost hurt each other trying to figure it out. You know men, no need to read the directions, especially the part in large bold letters that his wife tells him looks important "DO NOT TIGHTEN SCREWS UNTIL COMPLETELY FINISHED!"

Anyways, our table doesn't have all the pieces exactly right, we just won't move it until we move out :)




CSI..my favorite...



NOW...for my main event...this is my master bathroom. Isn't she lovely? On Tuesday my kitchen sink started to back up, so my contractor was coming on Wed. anyways and I figured, no biggie. Poor down some Drain-O right? WRONG! He came and started to get into it, and realized that this galvanized pipe, which they used in the early 60s and 70s was corroded and leaking into our wall cavaties. Lovely, right? I started to cry, and looked pathetic I am sure. I just didn't think I could handle ONE MORE THING this week!

He had to dig up the pipe, and as you can see, it certainly wasn't doing us any good. Because the house had sat empty and the pipes hadn't been used, and then Danny and I came in and used it as normal, they just died under pressure.

So, now we use the guest bath. We were eventually going to do a Master Bath rehaul, but it is a necessity to do it NOW. Our contractor said that we have two options, the kitchen or the bathroom (the pipes run alongside both and can be reached on either access point). So, since the kitchen is going to be WAY more expensive, we opted for the master bath. Therefore, starting tomorrow, we will no longer have one! AT ALL! It will be a LARGE CAVITY OF NOTHING! I really thought we were out of the woods with contractors in the house--they are such a MESS! Even the clean ones...I vacuumed for an hour when I got home!

Anyways, I needed to vent...anyone have any good home horror stories out there that will make me feel better?

Back to School!

My first day back to school is tomorrow, Wednesday! I got to meet all my students today and they are very sweet, and VERY excitable. I teach 2nd grade, so these kids are about 8 years old. The boys today, I can already tell, are going to be a rowdy bunch. Here are some pictures of my classroom. I teach all the second graders Math, while my teaching partner teaches Social Studies, so that is why there are lots of Math posters around the room.

I am very excited about tomorrow. I feel like a bride before her wedding day, excited and anxious, and happy that I was chosen to be with "someone" so perfect! The school is a perfect fit for me and I love the "family" of people I get to work with every day.

Moved In!

I am THRILLED! We moved in on Friday (everything was done!!) and we have spent every night here since. Most of our days have been spent putting away and organizing. I love our home. I really really LOVE it. Our bedroom is the only spot that is complete at this point. I have to have at least one spot that I can relax in, so I started there. The kitchen is done too, and the guest room is getting there. I have misplaced my camera cord to upload pictures...GRR! Of course I would have put them up if I could have. Thank you for all your support through all of this. We are so happy :) Off to Lowes and Target for some supplies...

What makes you happy?

I have been wondering this a lot lately...what makes me happy? What makes others happy? What is happiness? It is so hard to pin that down. We as humans are made to think that happiness comes from things and other people. And yes, sometimes it can. But is it real happiness? Is that the happiness that God intended for us to think is "sheer" happiness?


Through all of the renovations to our new home I have been happy. The wood is beautiful. The tile is beautiful. My home is going to be beautiful. But is that what I count on to make me happy? My husband has been amazing...toting boxes back and forth, not getting home until 7:30 every night because he stops by our new house and then comes home, sometimes not seeing me at all because I am spending the night painting baseboards and packing. Does he complain? No...he is happy. But can he always make me happy? I know the answer to this one...

Lately I have been reflecting on Philippians 4:22, "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want."

Contentness...(not a word), is something I so need to learn. I cry out to the Lord that he will give me the ability to be so. I also know, deep in my heart, that the Lord is the only one who will ever make me happy. He is the one who will get me through bad times, rejoice in my good times, love on me when I am deeply wrong. "Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, rejoice." I pray this for my soul, for my heart...from my heart.

Our New Home!!!!

This is us in front of our beautiful new home :) That is our new beautiful tree and that is beautiful new us!! Just kidding, but I feel like we are new people. Very excited. We got our keys at 3Pm today after an hour of signing paper after paper.


We taped off the rooms we are painting today, replaced the "butterflied" toilet lids...see the post with the pictures of the house...and cleaned all the bugs out of the corners with the amazing shop vac.


We also had a contractor come to the house so we could tell him what needed to be done before we move in next Friday (fingers crossed!!). We are adding air conditioning to the laundry room, dropping the ceiling in the laundry room (it is just rafters with wiring showing), and adding a chandelier in the dining room. We have Bright House (cable) coming on Sunday, air conditioning repair man and bug guy coming Monday, and all flooring starting to go in starting Tuesday! It is going to be a BUSY week! I can't wait to show ya'll the before and afters.

For now, we are just happy... :)

Here is our reception. It was at the Country Club of Orlando. Beautiful reception room, hardly had to decorate, which was nice!

We are HUGE Gator fans, so this was our groom's cake. It is surrounded by dry ice to make it look "swampy." Probably my most favorite piece of our reception!




You see that guy with the tamberine...I do not LIKE him! He is in almost every one of our "going away" pictures shaking that darn thing like nobody's business...grrrr




Honeymooning, the reason to get married, JUST KIDDING (but almost not)!! Here we are in St. Lucia :)

I love this picture because I can see that beauty of a ring on my man's hand!




We went zip lining through the rain forest. BEST experience of our lives! We look pretty ridiculous in our getup, by hey, we were safe.
