Hello Friends,

First a new tv table--I searched high and low for the perfect fit. It has glass doors just like our coffee table top and end table. It was a BEAR to put together. Hubby and I almost hurt each other trying to figure it out. You know men, no need to read the directions, especially the part in large bold letters that his wife tells him looks important "DO NOT TIGHTEN SCREWS UNTIL COMPLETELY FINISHED!"

Anyways, our table doesn't have all the pieces exactly right, we just won't move it until we move out :)

CSI..my favorite...

NOW...for my main event...this is my master bathroom. Isn't she lovely? On Tuesday my kitchen sink started to back up, so my contractor was coming on Wed. anyways and I figured, no biggie. Poor down some Drain-O right? WRONG! He came and started to get into it, and realized that this galvanized pipe, which they used in the early 60s and 70s was corroded and leaking into our wall cavaties. Lovely, right? I started to cry, and looked pathetic I am sure. I just didn't think I could handle ONE MORE THING this week!

He had to dig up the pipe, and as you can see, it certainly wasn't doing us any good. Because the house had sat empty and the pipes hadn't been used, and then Danny and I came in and used it as normal, they just died under pressure.

So, now we use the guest bath. We were eventually going to do a Master Bath rehaul, but it is a necessity to do it NOW. Our contractor said that we have two options, the kitchen or the bathroom (the pipes run alongside both and can be reached on either access point). So, since the kitchen is going to be WAY more expensive, we opted for the master bath. Therefore, starting tomorrow, we will no longer have one! AT ALL! It will be a LARGE CAVITY OF NOTHING! I really thought we were out of the woods with contractors in the house--they are such a MESS! Even the clean ones...I vacuumed for an hour when I got home!

Anyways, I needed to vent...anyone have any good home horror stories out there that will make me feel better?

I wish I did... the only thing I can think of, is the recalled heaters in our old house that used to glow red... until we could afford to replace them. (we were young and poor)

Home ownership can be like this sometimes, and in my (vast- hee hee) experience, things seem to break together. Do not ask me why... just keepin you on your knees maybe.

You are lucky to have a guest bathroom! We gutted and redid our kitchen in 2008 and my dad is a builder so he came from CT to help us out during my spring break. The cabinets we ordered were majorly delayed so instead of being able to complete the whole kitchen while he was there, we had it mostly done and had some extra time. He decided to fix the bathroom too because it was pretty ugly and so we were without a bathroom for several days. We only had one in the house. There was an extra toilet in the unfinished basement but with many male workers in and out of the house, I was NOT about to use it. So I basically relied on the bathrooms at Home Depot and Lowes for 2-3 days when I was on runs to get more supplies. Not fun!

It is a PAIN to have work done on the house, more of a pain to be involved in the work and doing it yourself, but SO worth it in the end!!! Good luck :0)

Oh my. Can I relate. We have had many plumbing disasters! Ours usually happen right after we've made some big purchase or right at Christmas time. Never fails... ha... The joys of home-ownership!!! :)
On the bright side, no blue tile in your master bathroom, right?!?! That's super exciting... Not exciting for your bank account, but anything you put into your home is an INVESTMENT so just look at it that way! :)

I don't have such a horror story... save for my ceiling caving in over my kitchen... which is buried somewhere in myblog archives.
