Back to School!

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

My first day back to school is tomorrow, Wednesday! I got to meet all my students today and they are very sweet, and VERY excitable. I teach 2nd grade, so these kids are about 8 years old. The boys today, I can already tell, are going to be a rowdy bunch. Here are some pictures of my classroom. I teach all the second graders Math, while my teaching partner teaches Social Studies, so that is why there are lots of Math posters around the room.

Here are all the cubbies and my board for student work.

My desk and the beautiful scenery I get to look at, no matter how annoyed I am with a certain student :)

The front of my classroom--Smart Board and Math multiplication facts.

I am very excited about tomorrow. I feel like a bride before her wedding day, excited and anxious, and happy that I was chosen to be with "someone" so perfect! The school is a perfect fit for me and I love the "family" of people I get to work with every day.

You are such a sweetie. I just forgot you were a teacher for some reason... but of course you ARE, with that sweet heart of yours!! I bet those kids just adore you.

Just read your comment... things are breaking??? That's no good! You don't need that, for sure!

Hope your first day is wonderful!
What a great room you have!!! Those windows are awesome AND a smart board, too?!?!? That's enough to make any teacher envious!!! :)

About the house and things breaking---its ALWAYS going to be something with a house. Most people think it only happens to older homes, but I've got a few friends with newly constructed homes and they are the same way! So dont worry too much... just get used to it...and make sure you are always saving for repairs! :) Once you get those initial things fixed, the 'breaks' are few and far between. (I say that and something will happen this week to our house!) Ha..
Anyway, hope your day is great!
Love that you compared it to being a bride... :)

Absolutely beautiful room. I love the view....I know the kids in your room will feel welcomed and respected for their hard work and good behavior. Some of the teachers at my school need to see the clutter -free and "clean" room. Rowdy boys need lots of engaging activities and planned movement.

I hope you have a great school year
