Clyde's Schedule

Thursday, June 10, 2010

I had to put Clyde on a schedule so that we could conquer potty training and also so that he would get his sleep during the day. Did you know puppies need 18 hours a day!?

Here is what a typical summer day looks like for us. Of course, I say summer because come fall we are going to need to be much quicker in the mornings so that I can get to school on time!

6:00- Danny gets up and takes Clyde out to potty, puts him back in crate so that I can continue to sleep.

7:45-8:00- I wake up and take Clyde back out to potty.

8:00- Clyde eats breakfast.

8:10- Clyde goes outside to potty.

8:15- Walk for 15 minutes in the neighborhood.

8:30- Play time.

9:00- Rest time.

10:30- Wake up and go outside to potty.

10:40-12:00- Play and rest. I also run errands during this time while he is in his crate.

12:00- Lunch time.

12:15- Outside to potty.

12:30-Play time.

1:15- Rest time. I run errands during this time as well while his crated.

3:00- Wake up, outside to potty.

3:15- Play time.

4:00- Rest time.

6:00- Daddy is home! Dinner time.

6:15- Outside to potty.

6:30- Play with daddy while mom gets things done around the house.

7:30- Walk for 15 minutes.

7:45- Play.

8:30- Wind down and sleep in couch with mom/dad.

9:00- Bed time!

The best part of this schedule is that it is structured so that he does not have a chance to pee/poo in the house.

Sidenote, do not, I repeat, do not, go outside barefoot in grass that needs to be cut if you are afraid of snakes. I had quite the scare this morning!

Oh he is soo cute! I love the 2nd picture. Dogs just love to lay on their backs and show all their goods!!

As for your scare this morning, oh I hope you didn't see a snake! It's weird, I had a dream last night about walking around in some tall grasses and came across a snake. Freaked me out, and it was only a dream!!

clyde is tooooo cute! Our friends have that same type of dog and she is precious. She always lays on the top of the couch and rests her head on my shoulder. precious!

Thanks so much for your comments! Glad to hear we are going through similar situations! Our schedule is like almost the exact same as yours =) It's a bummer because my husband and I just moved from Lakeland Fl in May! We could've met up with our puppies!! She has done great at sleeping through the night and potty outside, it's just the crazy biting thing that happens every so often that gets a bit out of control. I try giving her some other things to chew, but she just wants skin! My husband and I had to run and jump up on the bed the other night to get away from her and her sneak attacks haha I am def going to start the treat training with these other things (I did do it for the training to potty outside) and also going to sign up for puppy classes too- she really needs some puppy socialization! Poor thing- the big dogs growl and want nothing to with her.

Anyways look forward to sharing puppy stories and advice :)
