Sleepless Nights
Thursday, July 30, 2009
Alright, I need your help. Have any of you had to make difficult decisions about your home and worry that they weren't going to turn out right?? I am literally losing sleep over our choices of wood/tile/paint/accessories. I tried to pick them all out at the same time (like the decorators say), but the decorators leave out the part in which you have to just TRUST yourself, which I do NOT do well! I mean, ya'll, my hubs is sleeping soundly without a care other than, "I hope my wife doesn't drain our savings account" while I type randomly about my nervousness over home renovations! AGH! Sometimes I wish he could be part woman and just really sit down with me and hash it all out, but he won't. And, that's OK, just difficult.
Now, all this home stuff comes with finishing up our financing this week (which has been a nightmare for no reason other than very annoying bank personnel), a huge painting party next weekend, pre-planning for school starting August 11th, SCHOOL starting August 17th, and the renovations starting August 11th! Honestly, WHAT WAS I THINKING??
We so want to be in that house, but I just know that all we are having done isn't going happen according to our schedule. Part of me wants to take a xanax, but come on, I AM WOMAN! I can do this! HELP ME DEAL!

Julianne...I do have some advice.
1. Take a deep breath because this is only happening now. Once the initial work/move is over with you will never have to do it again for a long time.
2. I have had a hard time loving all the stuff I've selected for my house because you always see something better or wonder if you chose correctly. Trust me, you have. It's just something you have to live with for a while which is okay! Pray for contentment friend, because that is so my issue.
3. My Hubs and I are hardly communicative about house stuff. He does what he must to keep me happy but otherwise could care less. So I took to blogging and talk to my girls about design stuff.
4. Your home is like your wedding day. Enjoy it, because all the initial craziness will go quickly. And our closing was a nightmare - it's like part of life now to have home ownership be a pain from the onset. (Grrr.) Just try to enjoy your home, and I might suggest that you try to get only one thing at a time done after the initial shebang. We tried working on our home during the school year and ended up with half painted walls for three months lol!
ENJOY your new home. It's sucha blessing and will be awesome just cause you and danny live there!
Oh so fun to "meet" you!! Thanks for you comments and joining my blog...
I can so totally relate to your sweet heartfelt post. I have been there, and done that. And to say that, I must also admit that I am the most decisive person I know... so it must just be a girl thing?
I hope you get some sleep and know that everything will fall right into place. It most usually does for most everyone in these situations.
Good luck and blessings,
Sasha
