Impulsive and Potential House :)

Sunday, July 5, 2009

Wow, I am so glad that I have time before we move in to decide how I want to decorate. I am such an impulsive person. I like to have everything planned, all the time. God laughs at me, often! Anyways, I have already decided that the rug I had chosen is going to be too dark. We are planning on painting the walls in our living area green and our couch is a dark ivory color. I wanted a large patterned rug with ivory, green, red, etc. in it. Well, this one just went on sale at Pottery Barn...

I love it. I am thinking some tan and green pillows on the couch and then my red throw across the chair that matches our couch.

I normally don't buy Pottery Barn, just because you can always find something similar for cheaper, elsewhere. But, this rug is on sale and beaaaauuuttiful!

On another note, I've also decided that headboard is just way too exciting for me. I'm certainly not that modern and I just started thin
king about all the little dust bunnies that would get caught in the grooves. YUCK! So, I am on the hunt again. My grandmother wants to contribute that item to us, so sweet of her.

OK, I am going to post some pictures of the home we have a contract on. I'm feeling like this is might be bad luck, but like I said earlier...impulsive I am!

This first picture is of the guest bath. I think we will change out the vanity (same as master bath) and those cute little butterflies on the top of the toilet must go too! Sad, I know...but we think we will leave the gray tile...it isn't too crazy right? What color scheme would you put with a gray tiled bath??

Here is the Master...nice and large with two long windows just begging for plantation shutters. The other two rooms look identical to this one and have HUGE closets, which is hard to find in this area of time/time period of the home. The master bath is to the right of that window you can't see much of.

Eventually we will totally redo the kitchen and that ugly blue master bath!! Sadly, the blue tile is a good match to our aqua bedding HA!

We are thinking (someday) of adding cabinets on the right side of the room, some to house the fridge and there is a window there, so some underneath that. Could actually put a range over there and take out the stove and built in oven to have more cabinets/counter space. OHH...and the best part, is that door leads to a laundry room...and it is HUGE! We want to make a built in pantry in there as well. It will be an all-purpose mudroom/laundry area/pantry.

The large room with the big window is the front room (the half towards the window will be the living area and the half in front of the kitchen (not shown) will be the dining area. Just need to hang a chandelier in there and we are ready to go.

That's it!! Like I said, small but spacious. In this picture, you can see the doorway on the left of the room. That is the hallway that leads to the 2 extra bedrooms and that gray bath. You can't see it, but there is also a doorway on the right of the room that leads to the Master and master bath. In this pic, I am standing in the kitchen. The carpet is all brand new...YAY, but we will be putting down hardwood in the main living/dining area and hallway.

There you have it, any ideas that come to mind, let me have it!!

That is so completely exciting. I see so much elegance in the windows all over your house. I think the gray tile is fine - maybe gray on gray - you know, different shades of it with a pop of color like a lemon yellow or just a crisp white would be very pretty. That aqua tile is rough, but hey - play with it. What a blessing to have a house though! I love looking around online for ideas on how to make our home come to life without being to pricey. Anywho, I have a give away on my blog - do stop by and see if you might want to enter!Oh, and you can link up by posting something you might like to "giveaway" and I feel like that aqua tile would be a great gift lol!

That looks like so much fun! I just love looking at blank (well, almost blank) canvases like this and imagine what I'd do! Haha! Great thinking for plantation shutters in the master on those windows...I think those always "rich" up a space. Both of the bathrooms are totally liveable...I LOVE tiled bathrooms so I think they could both look really great once you get some stuff in there. (And I even think that blue one looks fun!) Awww, bye-bye butterflies on the terlet... I can't wait to see more........

We have a bath with blue tile, toilet, sink and tub (barf!) and ended up painting the walls dark brown. We also have a pink tile bathroom that we painted another shade of brown. In the blue bath, I bought some black and white pictures and some cool frames and now it is one of my favorite rooms in the house! It took it from 50's to totally modern! Have fun decorating!
