Weekend Recap
Sunday, October 18, 2009
WHEW! I slept well last night and this afternoon after such a high-anxiety game yesterday. For a little bit there, I didn't know if my Gators had shown up to the game at all! I am just glad they pulled it together. It's games like those that make you realize that football is not just physical, but so much mental as well.
We didn't do much of anything to speak of this weekend. I DID make those muffins. They were OK--kind of dense, but anything can be fixed with a little sugar and butter, right? It has been beautiful in Florida lately--finally dropped into the 60s yesterday and today. But, typical of Florida weather, this front will be gone in a few days and it will be back to highs in the 80s.
I also went to the store and used my coupons. Now, I need to vent...I follow many blogs of people who go to the store and spend $10 on $80 worth of food and so forth, but they never come home with REAL FOOD! No red meat, no chicken, no seafood...just boxes of pantry items! So, I need to stop comparing myself to them and do the best I can while buying REAL FOOD. I think I did pretty good this week. We spent a total of $67 on $112 of food. Lots of BOGO and I used about $15 in coupons. Not bad...just not like some others. I will get there, but it will be through buying REAL sustainable food! Goodness...I'm done...sorry for that.
I work Monday-Thursday this week and we are headed to Fort Meyers, FL to watch a good friend get married! YAY...so excited for a fun weekend with friends.

Hey! I was a bit worried that the Gators were not going to win there for awhile. Glad they did! :)
I thought I'd share that I have been couponing since January and have found that it can be a huge savings but it takes a little time. There are great coupons for meat and veggies thru some grocery stores. If you have a Publix near you they will take competitor coupons, like Target, Food Lion, etc. Some of those will have coupons for $1 off fruit, etc. Some companies also have these types........like Kelloggs over the summer had buy 2 of some item and get $2 off milk or fruit. Plus if you have any store coupons like $10 off $50 from Winn Dixie, etc. They can be used at Publix too. :) I don't shop a lot at WD but once in awhile I do so that I can get these great coupons. :) Don't despair though, there are great ways to save.........on real food too. :)
I'm totally impressed there!! You have a good week and stop in soon!
yeh i agree with you. family members of mine also get loads of groceries for pennies, but it is things like fun fruits, cereal, crackers and stuff. i needed those items when my kids were needing school lunches, but not anymore. the "real" food items don't come as cheap, but it sounds as if you got some good deals.
