Needing Your Thoughts!

Friday, February 5, 2010

I brought home this beauty bargain today and need your help!! It was an impulse buy. I have been looking for something for extra seating in our main room for the last 6 months. I need you to tell me whether or not it needs to be moved to somewhere else...

Here it is...I am a very traditional person--I love plaid, stripes, paisleys...it's just me :)

Here is how close it is to the front door...

Up close next to the rug--plenty of room to walk...

Whole room. What do you think?? I think it is so hard because our main living area is right when you walk in, so that makes it difficult to find furniture that isn't overbearing.

PLEASE give me your opinions!!

Tonight's Plans

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

The hubs and I went to get new FREE phones last night...ooo I love free. Well, my famous last words walking up to the store at 7:00PM were "let's not take an hour OK? I want to watch LOST." Well, we walked out with our new phones at 8:30! Oh well, it always takes forever.

I got this cute thing that I am obsessed with! It is a touch phone, but no data plan so much cheaper :)

Once we got home I knew that I was going to be too tired to concentrate on LOST so I postponed that until tonight. I did make my hot fudge sauce (SEE RECIPE IN LAST POST).

So tonight, I will be engrossed in this:

And this :

Happy Wednesday!

Home-made Fudge Sauce

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Ya'll I am a SUCKER for ice cream sundaes and after a hard day of work, I CRAVE vanilla ice cream with hot fudge sauce. Well, it's too expensive at the store, so I make my own! It makes enough for quite a while :)

Combine in a sauce pan:

2 tbs. butter
2 tbs. light corn syrup (KARO)
1 can evaporated milk
1/2 cup sugar

Bring to a boil and then let simmer for 3 minutes.

Take off the heat and add in:

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 teaspoons vanilla

I store mine in a glass container in the fridge!

Monday, February 1, 2010

We have lots of chicken, and I mean LOTS--we buy in bulk so I am always looking for new (and cheap) ways to cook it! I sign up for the Betty Crocker newsletter and it comes with great ideas every week for dinner and dessert.

Here is what I will be making tonight:

Closure

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

First of all, WE ARE FENCED IN! YAY :) I love it and our yard looks 100% better! Although I do understood that oranges on the ground, an old hose, and dead grass do not exemplify beauty to all of you, not having to look into my neighbor's window is beauty to ME!

We are getting ready for that puppy, you know...

And, for all of you who wanted a whole-room view of the curtains, etc. here you go! It is a smaller room and I was standing in the attached dining room when taking this picture.

Nana's Long-Awaited Curtains

Monday, January 25, 2010

I am SO excited to share with you the beautiful curtains that Danny's Nana made for us for our Christmas present. I bought the fabric and she put in almost 30 hours of labor! They turned out not only EXACTLY how I had imagined, but better!

Here is Nana putting on the final touches...

Helpers getting it in place.

YAY!

This really doesn't do it justice, we are so happy with the color...I mean it was just so STARK before, very bare. We are glad to have the space filled.

A close up of the colors...the "bells are a chenille dot material and the
"swags" are a pretty paisley. It all goes so well with the rest of our home!
